Valentine's Day is right around the corner! I'm enjoying all of Paulette's images from Create with TLC. Here is a card I made using "Love and Flowers Collage". This is a great image and will look beautiful with so many different design papers.

I thoroughly enjoy coloring images, but when I'm in a hurry it's so easy to pick a digi that is already colored. My design paper is from My Mind's Eye "Miss Caroline". My heart doilies were made with Cricut's Victorian Romance cartridge. I sized one of the hearts so I could use it as a collar around my bow. The paper is so decorative I didn't see the need to add any more embellishments!

Vintage Date

I just love combining images and sentiments! I have taken this elegant vintage image from Create with TLC's "Vintage Date" and combined it with the perfect sentiment from Paulette's "Women Equal Strength" collection.

Vintage Date

I used Cricut's CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge, Ornamental Iron 2 and a Spellbinder's die for my diecuts. The ribbon, lace and design paper are from my stash. The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I just love the dramatic effect of black and white although I don't use it that often. I think I need to experiment more! Do you find yourself using the same colors most of the time? This sounds like a good excuse to visit the craft stores, LOL!

Midnight Madness is Back and We've Gone Monthly!

We're back and we want to welcome you to the very first Midnight Madness Monthly Challenge !

The challenges will pretty much remain the same, however you will have the whole month to submit your creations. You are welcome to submit up to four projects using the sketches provided as a guide. We may add some fun twists with themes too. The themes are merely for inspirations and not required to play our sketch challenges. Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team Blog Hop

What a glorious morning! Today is the last Tuesday in the month of January and also the day for the monthly Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team Blog Hop. What fun it is to get together with former design team members from Heartfelt Creations and create projects with some of our favorite HC stamps! My card base is Georgia Pacific as well as my lacy frame made with Martha Stewart Double Loops Punch Around the Page punches. My design paper was made by sponging Stampin Up Orchid Opulence ink on the inside of a Cuttlebug folder, Kassie's Brocade, and then embossing another panel of Georgia Pacific cardstock. I stamped my image and sentiment from Heartfelt Creations HCPC 3371 Dutch Iris PreCut Set with Adirondack Pitch Black ink and colored it with Copic Markers YG0000, YG11, YG13, Y32, Y35, G24, BV0000, V0000, V01, V06, V20. I cut my image out with Spellbinders Large Petite Ovals and framed with HFC 710 Decorative Oval Window Die. The sentiment was cut with Spellbinders Fancy Tags 2. I added a scrap of lace and pearls made from a Viva Decor Pearl Pen for the final touch.

Valentine Be Mine

'Tis the season, for Valentine's cards that is! I have a new card I created using Create with TLC's February Club collection, "Valentine Be Mine". This is a vintage image and I had some "vintage" paper in my stash that was the perfect companion:

This is a little busy, but I enjoyed adding all the elements. My hearts were all cut with the new "Victorian Romance" Cricut cartridge. My fence was made with a Magnolia die and colors by Copic. I topped it all off with a Bazzil bow.

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday, the sun is still shining brightly in the Carolina's. I'm going to get outside after church and enjoy this glorious day!

Grow A Little Love

What a lovely Saturday we had today in Carolina, the sun was shining bright and it was a good day to just spend some time outside. This is the time of the year to take advantage of these gifts of warmth and sunshine, the weather is certainly unpredictable from now until April.

I spent some quality time in my craft room today too. I wanted to enter the current Tiddly Inks Challenge #78. The challenge this week is to use the colors yellow, orange, green and blue. I chose one of the new digital designs Christy recently created, "Wryn - Grow A Little Love". I think she is just adorable!

I didn't really "gussy" this up too much. I concentrated more on my coloring and matching the colors in my design paper from My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Collection, "Mabel". I used Spellbinders dies and a Magnolia fence die. Copic colors used were: E11, E55, YR18, Y21, Y23, Y32, Y35, B21, B93, R32 and G24.

Love Birds

I have another beautiful digi image to show you today from Create with TLC. This set is called "Love Birds Vintage Collage". Well...I love vintage and I've been dying to use this cute birdcage from the Cricut cartridge "Straight from the Nest":

I decided to keep it simple, or should I say simple for me! I colored my birds in Photoshop and then found matching cardstock to use for my birdcage and card base. The design paper is from Webster's Pages, the ruffled ribbon from The Ribbon Retreat and silver dewdrops. I think this would make for a great Valentine's card!

Our Daily Bread Sketch Challenge

I adore Our Daily Bread stamps and I'm so excited that I was able to enter their latest sketch challenge, ODBDSLC93. I decided to go with "texture" for the emphasis on my card:

I used the Our Daily Bread stamp set "The Word of God". My arched embellishment was cut with my Cricut and the others were made with Spellbinders Parisian Motifs and Parisian Accents. I colored my image with Copic markers and sponged with distress ink. The design paper is from Queen Bee and the sheet music is a copy of "The Crystal Sea". I added burlap and pearls from Michael's.

Love and Valentines

Oh, the joy of being in love! Valentine's Day is fast approaching and I hope everyone has that someone special or special ones in their lives to share it with. It could be a husband, children, parents, friends or even pets. I have a Valentine's Day card to share with you today. This "Couple in Hearts" looks so loving and carefree! The image is from Create with TLC.

I created flowers and the lacey frames with my Cricut. The "couple" in Paulette's store is in black and white so I Photoshopped the digi and changed the colors. My design paper is from Basic Grey.

Cross of Hope

I have another new cross design to share with you from Create with TLC, "Cross of Hope". I love butterflies, what a great embellishment to have on a cross! This gave me the opportunity to play with some of my Cherry Lynn butterfly dies I 've never used before and a Cricut lacy diecut.

I cut out the cross after coloring with Copic markers and popped this up on my Cricut diecut. I then cut out my butterflies to color coordinate with design paper from K & Company. The pearls were created with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

Cross of Faith

Where would we be without faith? Faith in God is what keeps me going, especially during difficult times. Faith has been my constant companion the last two weeks since my mother passed away and has given me peace.

So I was really excited when Paulette from Create with TLC asked me if I would like to try my hand with her newest release, Cross of Faith.

I've had this design paper from October Afternoon in my stash for a while, just waiting for the right card. I love the elegance and felt it would be the perfect background for my cross. I used my Cricut cartridge "Inspired Heart" to cut the Bible frame that my cross is mounted on.

Let's Hop with TLC

Welcome to the Create with TlC Calendar Girl Blog Hop and introduction of the new design team members! Paulette is hosting today's Blog Hop to launch the newest team and introduce the "calendar" girls! That is what we are calling ourselves today because each designer has a creation using a calendar of the month. And as a special treat from Paulette, every designer will be including the image they used as a freebie! Your next stop on the hop is the sensational Carla's blog! My first calendar image for the hop is "September". I never think of this month without remembering this was always the month for starting school:

I chose Cosmo Cricket's "Odds & Ends" collection for my card and cut out embellishments with my Cricut "George" and "A Child's Year" cartridge. I also used a Sizzix embossing folder sponged with Stampin' Up ink. My wooden letters came from Michael's.

My second month is October and I of course, Halloween! I used to love to "trick or treat" and still remember the thrill of choosing a costume.

I used Basic Grey's "Curio" for my design paper. My Halloween embellishments were cut with my Cricut using the "Happy Hauntings" and "October 31" cartridges. A little burlap from "The Funkie Junkie" and a purple button completed the scene.

Tribute to My Mom

Mary Layden Williams

There are many types of love, the love that God has for us, the love of a husband and wife, love of a parent for a child and of a child for their parents - plus many, many more. I want to dedicate this card today to my mother, Mary Layden Williams. They say when you become a mother it is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

My mother lived an eventful life for all of her 89 years. She grew up during the Great Depression and had "not so fond" memories of picking cotton as a young girl. She enrolled in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. After the war, she married my father in July of 1950 in a little Baptist church near where she grew up. She gave birth to a daughter and an only child in March 1952. She continued to nurse in a local hospital until I was older and then devoted herself to being a parent and homemaker. My mother suffered emotional distress from all the casualties she encountered and was frequently a patient in various VA hospitals. Other than these stays in the hospital, she lived a full and enriched life with a husband devoted to her, her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. About five years ago my mother was admitted to a nursing home. She fell and broke her hip and was never able to walk again unassisted and also suffered from dementia. My mother and I were great friends and spent many hours together in her later life after I retired. Some of my fondest memories after she went to the nursing home are the car trips we made all over the county of her birth. I think we traveled every road in Perquimans County. While driving, I would ask her if she knew where we were and she would say "no", to which I would reply "neither do I"! We had a great laugh over this and also when I would ask her how old she was. She never remembered and when I responded she would look at me in amazement and then we would laugh at that too.

Thank you for taking the time to read my tribute. I am thankful for all the prayers I have received from my blogging friends.

I love this new image and matching word art from Create with TLC! I don't tell my friends often enough how much they mean to me and this would be a perfect way to tell them I care.

I colored my kitty with Copic markers and used Basic Grey's "Pyrus" design paper. My corner embellishments were made with Cricut's Paper Trimmings cartridge. I used a Spellbinder's die to cut out my image and some seam binding ribbon from my stash. My burlap trim came from "The Funkie Junkie".

Catchy title? I can't believe I had this adorable image from Sugar Nellie for so long before I used it! My precious granddaughter Sophia "chose" this image for her birthday card and also the colors, LOL! Can you tell she's spoiled? Here is her card:

The image is "Joy Sitting" and my design paper is from My Mind's Eye "Stella Rose" collection. I colored Joy with Copics and shaded the edges with distress inks. The flowers are from Prima and my ribbon is from my stash. The awesome sentiment is from Create with TLC.

Love is Doing Things Together

This vintage image from Create with TLC just grabs my heartstrings! If you're like me, you've just packed away your Christmas things and now its already time to be thinking about Valentine's Day! Paulette has a wealth of Valentine's images to select from at TLC. Some are freebies and some are available for a small donation. Here is my card using "Love is Doing Things Together":

I just love the little mice and I added a polka dotted heart also from TLC. My cupids and hearts were made with the new Cricut cartridge "Victorian Romance". My design paper is from Basic Grey's "Sugar Rush".

My hubby and I are doing lot's of things together now, LOL! He had back surgery in December and I have to help him on and off with his back brace, besides doing all the bending and lifting around the house. We are blessed that the surgery went so well and I am more than happy to be able to assist. I broke my wrist horse back riding a few years back and he was the perfect helpmate.

I can't believe it is 2012! This last year passed by so quickly - and yes, it is true when you get older the time passes much, much faster than when you were a child!

I have been MIA quite a bit recently, my husband had back surgery on December 6th and then Christmas came like a runaway train. My mother is in a nursing home and her health has been steadily declining the last two weeks. It was with great joy that I was able to work in my craft room the last couple of days and I do have a couple of New Year cards to show you today. My images are from Create with TLC, Paulette has an absolute wealth of images on her blog, many are free and some are available for purchase or a small donation. Snowman Challenge

I haven't posted a card in a while, been busy trying to keep DH comfortable and making sure he does as the doctor ordered. I did want to try a new challenge this week, Creative Cutter Room has a snowman card challenge on their blog which ends December 28th. I just acquired the Cricut cartridge Snow Friends and thought this would be a great way to "test drive" the cartridge. I selected my image and the accompanying accessories to create my card:

The challenge requirement include:

metal

I just had to go with red! My design paper is from Basic Grey's "Jovial" collection. My border was made with a ribbon from Bazzil, Cricut "Winter Lace" snowflakes and a red metal jingle bell. The eyes, nose and mouth were made with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

We Three Kings

Good morning! I have a Christmas card to share with you today, after all Christmas is only 11 days away - can you believe it? I am not baking, decorating or wrapping presents right now. I am celebrating every day with DH, helping him recover from major back surgery - kinda like his "Gal Friday" and praising God that the operation was a success. That is my Christmas present this year. I did take the time over the week to make another Christmas card using Create with TLC's "We Three Kings" and "Christmas Night 3" images:

I employed a little Photoshop again to layer the kings on the Christmas night. If you don't have a photo editing program that will allow you to do this, you can always print the kings onto the background right with your printer. My frame was made with my Cricut and I think this really sets off the image.

Enjoy your Christmas preparations and remember to spend time with the ones you love.

Sugar Creek Hollow Sensational Saturday

Welcome to Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and a new challenge.

First, I want to announce that I will be leaving the design team at the end of the year. Designing for Sugar Creek Hollow has been such a joy and I have loved every minute! I will miss everyone, especially Tracy who was my vintage mentor. Heide will also be leaving, she is a fabulous designer and will be greatly missed. Renee will be staying, but scaling back her participation. Starting in the New Year Renee will become our Feature Artist and will show us all how Recycling and Repurposing are done the vintage way when those challenges come up. These ladies have made valuable contributions to the Sugar Creek Hollow team and have become lovely online crafting friends.

Next, we have three new designers coming on board and they are joining us with their vintage beauties for the challenge this week so you can get a preview of what they will be showing you starting in January.

I decided to use an emboss resist technique for my background stamp and really liked how this turned out with the sponged on distress ink.

Good morning and welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week our challenge to you is FANCY FOLDS. So think outside the box or past the single fold and let us see vintage, shabby chic or primitive cards with fun and fancy folds! I chose to make a side step dresser card. I found the tutorial for this here:

My vintage image is from Clearly Vintage and the fabulous mirror is from Create with TLC's "Ooh La La" collection. I made the fancy cuts with a Spellbinder's die and used brads as the drawer knobs. For the final touches, I sponged my dresser and mirror with distress inks.

Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday Challenge

It is Saturday and we have a really fun challenge for you at Sugar Creek Hollow this week. We want to see a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project that features a RECIPE CARD. The recipe card can be shown either on the front or inside of your project and the recipe itself should be a family favorite that has been passed down over the years. Well, that being said, my recipe has been passed down for a few years, it is a favorite I obtained when I joined Weight Watcher's a few years ago:

I don't cook as much as I did when my children were living at home and we like quick and easy meals most of the time. After all, when you're retired you never have any time to yourself! I have passed this on to several friends and to my children. This is so yummy on those cold winter days! You could easily add some other vegetables to make this ever heartier.

We hope you will join along with our fun challenge this week! If your recipe isn't easily read from the photo of your project, then we would ask that you detail it in your post. It would also be great if you could show a photo of the finished recipe. Your recipe can be of any type and we would love to hear the story behind it. Soon your family's favorite could become someone else's family favorite so thanks for sharing.

Once again I took a handful of Copics and had such a blast with all the different colors. My sentiment is from Create with TLC and I used a Christmas sample pack I purchased from Sweet n Sassy last year. I then added a splash of Basic Grey's Wassail. My trees were cut with Spellbinder's 2010 Shapeabilities Christmas Trees.

Tiddly Inks Fall Queen

I think this newest creation from Tiddly Inks is cute enough to be crowned "queen"of the pumpkin patch! Fall has become my favorite time of the year and I love seeing all the pumpkins, leaves and scarecrows. I actually colored this image about a week ago and I've been taking my time deciding on my colors and design. Here is my finished card:

My image was colored with Copic markers and I added burlap and embossed my cardstock for additional texture. And what is fall without leaves? All of my leaves were made with my cricut. I embossed the leaves and added some Viva-Decor Inka Gold for glitz.

I Photoshopped the puppy image onto the candy cane design paper. The striped paper is also one of Paulette's designs. My embellishments were all made with my Cricut. The red burlap was purchased from The Funkie Junkie. Let's see your Christmas creations!

Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday Challenge

Welcome to another Sugar Creek Hollow challenge! This week we challenge you to use your "trash' and create a vintage treasure. You can include items from your paper scraps but your project must start with something you are re-purposing. Please include a photo of that item in your post so we can say "You went from that to that - wow!" You never know what you may have laying around that can be transformed into a work of art. My treasure is a box I created for Christmas goodies. I can use this for a fancy gift box or it makes a great container for cookies or candy. I also made a matching gift tag.

My "trash" is this oatmeal container that I conveniently emptied this week. I got carried away trimming this down and you can even see my beginning cuts. I trimmed the container to 3" above the base and covered it with design paper.

My reindeer, fancy label and tag were all created with my Cricut. I embossed the reindeer and sponged with distress ink. I think they look very vintage!

We will choose one random winner who will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. The Design Team will select one project as Card of the Week and the creator of that project will receive a badge to display and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Happy Halloween! This sure is a lot of fun, especially when you have a lot of spooky images and embellishments to play with. I don't have trick or treaters anymore, I live in the country and all of our kids are either going to churches for "trunk or treat" or parties. Here is a card I made using a scary sentiment from Create with TLC:

"The only thing we have to fear is FEAR ITSELF and spiders"! I know they were thinking about me when they made this saying...I have that arachnophobia thingy.

My image was gleaned from the Florida Center for Instructional Technology. I just had to have Little Miss Muffet to go with this sentiment. My embellishments and frame were made with my Cricut and I used Basic Grey's Eerie collection design paper.

I am just loving the newest creations by Paulette on Create with TLC. Being a country girl, I could not resist using two of her latest creations:

The Indian corn and vintage photo are from Create with TLC. I distressed the edges of both images and then sponged them with distress inks. I made the sentiment, ears of corn and leaves with my Cricut. I used Basic Grey's "Curio" design paper and Canford cardstock.

I used Heartfelt Creations Holiday Poinsettia Candle set for my card, stamping on vellum. I just used the holly around the candle and the sentiment. I used the Cricut to create my frame and embellishments, and embossed with my Cuttlebug.

Other: Neenah Solar White, Fabriano, Canson, and DCWV cardstock. The Paper Studio “A Country Christmas” design paper. Ranger gold embossing powder, VersaMark, Viva Decor Inka-Gold, white Gelly Roll pen, Spica Atyou gold glitter pen and distress inks. Recollections pearls. Ribbon from All That Scraps. Spellbinders Large Standard Circles, Cricut Elegant Edges. Cricut Expression, Grand Calibur, Scor-pal and Bow Easy.

Instructions:

Stamp Shepherd Scene on design paper and color with distress inks, adding Spica gold glitter pen to star. Cut out scene with Spellbinders circle die. Using Cricut Elegant Edges, cut out a frame, 5” x 5” and two layers, one the same size as frame and one 5.25” x 5.25”. Cut out card base with same frame layer. Card base measures 5 3/8” x 5 7/8” (the top of card overlaps which accounts for difference between height and width). Sponge edges of cardstock with distress ink. Stamp, emboss and heat set. All stamped images, papers and embellishments were glued with Beacon Zip Dry, Fabri-Tac and an ATG 714 tape gun.

Colors of Fall with Sugar Creek Hollow

Welcome to another Sugar Creek Hollow Sensational Saturday! Today our challenge is to create a vintage card with "Colors of Fall". It seems everything is coming up pumpkins these days! I have an adorable image from Paper Cupcakes to share with you today:

I used Spellbinders and Marianne Creatables diecuts on my card and colored my image with Copic markers. Oh, and I couldn't leave out Martha (Stewart, that is)! I used a scrap of lace decorated with dew drops and added pearls and a gingham bow.

Autumn Leaves

Good morning! Today finally feels like fall again with temperatures in the fifties here in the Carolinas. We had such a hot summer that I'm happy to see cooler weather! I'm also enjoying making fall cards this year, especially since Create with TLC has so... many gorgeous fall collections! I have an autumn leaf to share today:

I loved the blocked leaf Paulette created so I really took some artistic liberty with this and added colors in Photoshop. I liked the colors, but wanted more so I used my distress inks to change colors on the leaf and subdue the background. I recently acquired a Cricut so I "had" to play with that and found this adorable background frame on the "Elegant Frames" cartridge and my words on "Autumn Celebration". I had a hard time finding the design paper I wanted to use at first, but Basic Greys "Indian Summer" seemed to fit what I was going for.

Now I have a little brain teaser for you, what word do you think most appropriately describes our season of the year in the US right now, "fall" or "autumn"? I "Googled" it because I could not for the life of me figure this out!

I'm quite a bit late with the card I created today, Sundays are always busy! I finished this tonight and wanted to share two fabulous images from Create with TLC, "Silhouette Turkey" and "T is for Turkey":

I'm deviating from my usual style this time. I decided to just have fun with this and took the liberty of changing the color of Paulette's turkey in Photoshop. My design evolved into a collage, using some diecuts and a sentiment from my Cricut "Autumn Celebrations" cartridge.
